The following suggested steps ensure the optimal learning experience from Hello Kitty Music:
1.First let your child listen to the song and become familiar with it
2.Then your child can practice the song in slower notes mode. Here the metronome is used -- an essential tool to help keep rhythm while practicing music
3.Having mastered the song in slow mode, your child is ready to practice again in fast notes mode
4.Listen to playback with the singing voice. Here the singing voice facilitates learning and instills the language of music in a natural and easy way, as your child practices the song
5.Finally, practice using the microphone icon -- allowing your child to sing the song for themself. The microphone mode is a powerful learning tool in internalizing the language of music
6.When playing with 4 fingers or more, it’s best to turn off the Multitasking Gestures feature on your iPad’s settings.

Description
Visual discrimination is the ability to see an object or form distinct from other objects/forms. This is important when we’re presented with a lot of visual information at one time. It is the ability to screen out irrelevant visual material in order to concentrate on the important item. Having visual discrimination is a prerequisite for visual discrimination.
Children with visual discrimination weakness may have difficulty with:
1. Concentrating on relevant information for example on a page, picking out certain words
2. Ignoring what is irrelevant
3. Shifting attention appropriately
4. Finding specific places E.g. In text, maps or books
5. Noticing all the relevant words in a question, identifying key words or developing “skim and scan” skills
6. Keeping place when reading, completing a worksheet or copying from the board and quickl finding the last place left off
7. Organising written work and labelling diagrams
8. Completing work on “busy” paper with lots of visual information on it
9. In written assignments, may miss out sections or parts of it.
10. Drawing a straight line between two points
11. Losing their place in number work
12. Seem inattentive and distracted, especially when having to look at board 13. Finding a pecific toy in a toybox, or a certain sock in sock drawer.
This app, developed by Occupational therapists, and trialled within the clinic and home setting, will help to improve visual discrimination. It gradually moves from picking out toys and shapes,to more complex letter and word sequences.
Children should do each exercise at least twice before moving onto the next level.
Aim to improve speed at which games are completed.
