App Review: Hurray for Pre-K - Introduce your Kids to Pre-K

Hurray for Pre-K is an app based on the book of the same name by Ellen Senisi which shows kids aged 2-6 what goes on in a Pre-K classroom. This app will help parents reduce their child’s anxiety about starting preschool.

The texts are simple sentences that will be easily understood by kids. It emphasizes different words like read, play, listen, sing, etc which are the activities that kids will do in the pre-k classroom.

Kids can enjoy Hurray for Pre-K in 3 ways:
Read to Me
A narrator will be reading out loud the texts on the pages and the kids can tap on the objects in the picture to interact with them. They can then swipe the page to move on to the next page.

Auto Play
It is the same as Read to Me except that it will turn the pages automatically after the texts are read. This will play out like a movie for the kids.

Read Myself
Older kids who want to read the text by themselves can use this feature. If they don’t know how to read a word, they can just tap on the word to hear it spoken out loud.

One of the great features of Hurray for Pre-K is that parents can record their own voices reading the texts. So kids are able to listen to the texts with a familiar voice.

The Karaoke type of narration in which the word is highlighted as it is spoken out loud is a great feature of this app as it can help kids recognize these words. Kids can also tap on the pictures to hear the narrator say what these objects/people are. Another great feature is the ability for parents to record their own voice reading the texts!
