Matchmatics is an interactive puzzle game that challenges its users to solve basic arithmetic equations by moving matches around. Incorrect equations are presented through match stick diagrams and the idea is to move one matchstick that would make the equation correct. There are three game modes to play: Classic Mode, Time Attack, and Speedrun.
In the Classic Mode, users have to go through 490 levels of equations at their own pace. On top of the screen is the score which counts down until you are able to solve the puzzle. So the longer you take, the lower the score you get. In Time Attack, you have to go through 20 levels as quickly as you can with the timer running. In Speedrun, there is a one minute timer counting down and you need to solve as many levels as you can.
The game saves your progress for all game modes and once you’ve finished everything, you can tap the refresh button on the main menu to reset all scores and try again. This app is an addictive brain teaser for children and adults as well. It not only teaches children to understand and to work around equations but it also develops several cognitive abilities as well.
What iHeartThisApp Liked
The game’s controls and menu are really straightforward and intuitive which push the users’ attention to the actual puzzle solving of the game. The theme of match stick equations is well executed and brings back some childhood memories for the older users while sharing the experience with the younger children. I like that the app contains a “How to Play” section with a very simple one-page diagram that teaches how to do it. The three different game modes give users different ways to enjoy and play the app. I also find the music to be really fun, enticing, and enhances the experience of playing the game.
The app is great because it takes simple arithmetic equations and turns them into challenging brain teasers that will definitely teach younger children to understand equations and how to work around them. At the same time, it also develops other cognitive abilities like memory and visual thinking.
It’s great that the game keeps track of scores for each game mode but it would be better if there is a scoreboard which tracks top scores. I think this would motivate users to play the game more so they could beat their own or their friends’ scores.
Matchmatics is an interactive app that give users a simple yet addictive puzzle solving game based on simple arithmetic equations. These brain teasers will help develop mathematic and cognitive abilities in both children and adults alike!
