Puss in Boots by Cluepop is an interactive pop-up storybook adaptation of the classic story by Charles Perrault. It reads and looks just like a real book with flipping pages and nice 3D pop-up scenes. Your children will definitely enjoy reading and learning about Puss in Boots while doing the activities within the interactive pop up scenes.

Puss in Boots by Cluepop is a modern language adaptation of the classic story done in a pop-up storybook format. It takes the classic story written by Charles Perrault and makes it into an interactive app for the iPad. The main interface is an open story book with story texts on the left and right pages. There is the option of having a narrator read the story or to turn it off for your children to read on their own. Pressing the “Next” arrow button turns the page for the next part of the story.

In each section of the story, there is a point where the book will flip and 3D pop-up elements and scenes will appear on screen. For each pop-up section, children will be tasked to finish an activity such as helping Puss catch rabbits or dressing up the miller’s son by touching and dragging certain interactive elements. Sound effects and simple animations will help make the experience memorable for children.

Any storybook app that introduces young children to classic stories is always a good thing. The story is told in a simple and entertaining way for maximum enjoyment. The page flipping story book layout is good because it simulates reading a real book. The pop up scenes are nice and the interactive elements and activities will definitely keep children occupied. The option to rotate the 3D pop up scenes is a nice touch. It’s good that it also has a table of contents where children can go directly to their favourite pages or continue where they stopped.

The app is a good tool for parents to bond with their children. Because of the option to turn off the narration, parents can sit and read the story to their children. They can also enjoy solving the pop up scenes together. Children will definitely hone their reading comprehension while enjoying the artwork and different interactive elements within the pop up scenes.

Suggested Enhancement

While the pop up scenes are already nice, I think that they could be better. More Interactive elements and more animations within these scenes will exponentially add to the enjoyment of children.
