Timmy Tickle is a cute interactive story about an octopus named Timmy. It is only eight pages long, but some pages are like a mini game for young children. Each page requires some interaction from the reader. Children tickle Timmy to cheer him up, help him roller skate, wash dishes, count from 1 to 8, learn to play four nursery rhymes on the xylophone and play two guessing games. On the last page, Timmy asks for help to turn out the lights which I think makes this story also a good bedtime story.
In addition, the painting section has eight beautiful pictures for children to color. For little children there is a magic paint color, rainbow swirl, that colors the entire picture when they swipe. The pictures can be saved to the iPad camera roll.
The app does have social media links and other links within the information area.
What Elena Liked
The graphics were very nice and navigation was straight forward. The kids and I really enjoyed the xylophone page. They played the nursery rhymes and then did some free play.
I would wish that social media links were removed. Also, currently an entire sentence is highlighted when read. It would be nice for young children learning to read if each word were highlighted as it was read.
Timmy Tickle is a great storybook app that has a lot of interactive play for young children.
