Wubbzy’s Space Adventure is an interactive story and activity book for children ages 4 and above. Inspired by the Emmy Award winning Nick Jr. TV series “Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!”, this app will have your children glued to the screens as they go explore space, meet aliens, and go wake up the sleepy Man on the Moon so the sun can rise.

One day, Wubbzy woke up to find the moon still in the sky. He finds out that the Man on the Moon who was supposed to drive the moon away has overslept! With the help of his friends, they all go on an adventure to wake up the Man on the Moon and bring the sun back out. This whimsical story is contained in a storybook app with full page illustrations, story text, and voice over narration. Interactive elements are also found on each page for your children to explore and have fun with. There are three ways to enjoy the story: First is “Read to Me” where the narrator reads the story text out loud and children can play with the interactive elements and mini games. Next is “Read & Play” for children with more advanced reading skills but still allows them to play with the interactions. Lastly, there’s the “Just a Book” mode where the both the narration and the interactive elements are turned off. It becomes just like a traditional storybook complete with flipping pages.

Aside from the story, there are other extra features included. The app contains three music videos that children can sing and dance to. There is also the option to play the two mini games found in the story. Lastly, there is a coloring book section where children can color pictures from the book.

Wubbzy’s Space Adventure is a solid storybook app — the layout and controls are like the usual storybook apps which are easy and intuitive to use. The interactive elements and mini games within the story add fun and enhance the children’s experience of the app. The fact that it is based on characters found on a popular TV series is probably the main draw for children.

Having the option for the three modes is good because “Read to Me” and “Read and Play” cater to children of differing reading levels and the “Just A Book” mode could be used by parents to read to their child during bedtime or any bonding moment for that matter. There is also some questions in the end of the story for parents to assess their children’s reading comprehension and understanding of the story. The extra features like the music videos and the coloring book section all serve to enhance the overall experience of the child.
